Espresso
Espresso is a brewing method that highlights a coffee’s structure, intensity, and depth. Unlike filter coffee, which relies on a longer extraction to bring out delicate flavors, espresso is brewed under pressure, creating a concentrated and layered cup. A well-brewed espresso balances sweetness, acidity, and body, offering a rich and expressive drinking experience.
At Amokka, we take a modern approach to espresso—one that aligns with our roasting philosophy of clarity and balance. Traditionally, espresso has been associated with darker roasts, emphasizing bold, caramelized flavours. However, in Nordic-style espresso, we focus on bringing out the coffee’s natural complexity rather than relying on roast-driven characteristics. This means lighter roasts, higher clarity, and more pronounced fruit and floral notes, while still ensuring the depth and texture that make espresso so satisfying.
In this collection, you’ll find coffees we think work particularly well for espresso brewing. These include both classic espresso profiles with deeper, chocolatey notes and more modern, fruit-forward options for those who enjoy a brighter and livelier cup. While all these coffees are chosen with espresso in mind, brewing is always a matter of preference. If you prefer a lighter roast or a more experimental espresso style, you’ll find plenty of other options in our full coffee collection.
Whether you drink your espresso as a straight shot, in a flat white, or as part of a longer milk-based drink, the right coffee can make all the difference. This selection is meant to give you a versatile starting point, coffees that perform well across different espresso styles and highlight the clarity, balance, and precision we value in all our roasts.
