About

Brasilien

Origin

Coffee arrived in Brazil in 1727 and transformed the country into the world’s powerhouse of coffee production. By the early 1900s, Brazil supplied nearly 80% of global coffee, shaping modern coffee agriculture as we know it today.
Today, Brazil remains the world’s largest producer of arabica and continues to influence quality, innovation, and sustainability across the global coffee industry.

Terroir

Brazil’s most exciting coffee regions stretch across vast plateaus and highlands at 900–1,200 masl. In Chapada Diamantina, rich iron-oxide soils, steady temperatures, and dry harvest seasons create ideal conditions for slow maturation.
Here, varieties like Catuai thrive, producing coffees with sweetness, structure, and clean, balanced profiles that define modern specialty lots from Bahi

Flavor Profile

Expect notes of chocolate, roasted nuts, caramel and dried fruit. Brazilian coffees are known for low acidity and smooth sweetness, making them ideal for espresso as well as full-bodied, accessible everyday filter brews.

Why We Work With

Fazenda Progresso

Amokka® has partnered with Fazenda Progresso since 2013
We were drawn to the Borré family’s commitment to quality and their focus on social initiatives – values that align closely with our own. From the start, this relationship has been about more than buying coffee; it’s built on mutual trust, long-term vision, and a shared mission to uplift the community
The Borré family has run Fazenda Progresso for generations (since 1984) with a strong emphasis on sustainable and organic farming practices. They even produce their own natural fertilizers to care for the land. Equally important is their engagement with the local community – providing infrastructure and ensuring fair, generous working conditions for farm staff. Few farms in Brazil operate with such a deep sense of social responsibility and fair wages, and the family’s efforts have earned them great respect locally. These are the reasons we are proud to work with Fazenda Progresso.

Amokka IMPact trade

Impact Trade is our commitment to long-term partnerships, transparent pricing, and meaningful community investment.
Through this model, every purchase contributes directly to projects that strengthen our origins and the people behind our coffees.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN BRAZIL

Since 2019, our Impact Trade contributions in Brazil have supported key initiatives at Fazenda Progresso improving community infrastructure, safety, and long-term sustainability on and around the farm.
A central focus has been the reconstruction of an old school building, now transformed into a Community Medical Center serving local families. During the COVID-19 pandemic, funding also ensured protective equipment, hygiene materials, and safer working conditions.
In recent years, our support has additionally helped improve worker facilities and environmental sustainability across the farm

Describe a product, share announcements, or welcome customers to your store.Access to medical services in the Roncador area has long been limited. To address this, an old school building was transformed into a local Community Medical Center.
The center now provides medical consultations, dental care, and preventive health services through a collaboration between the farm and the municipality.
For local families, this means fewer hours spent travelling and quicker access to essential treatment.

A school rooted in the community

Around 60 children attend the school supported and maintained by Fazenda Progresso.
The school is more than a place for lessons it includes a library, a kitchen, outdoor learning spaces, and hosts cultural activities that bring the community together.
Students take part in local events, visits around the region, and lessons in nature and sustainability that have become part of everyday life.

Planting the future

Fazenda Progresso runs its own nursery where native tree species are grown.
Children help plant these trees across the area, learning about biodiversity and how small actions can strengthen the local ecosystem.
It is both an educational activity and a contribution to long-term environmental care.
