Coffee from Honduras
Honduras has quickly risen to become one of Central America’s largest coffee producers, known for producing a wide range of coffees from pleasant everyday blends to high-scoring specialty lots. Coffee production mostly takes place in mountainous regions, such as Marcala and Santa Barbara, where altitude and climate contribute to ideal growing conditions.
Coffees from Honduras typically offer balanced sweetness, medium acidity, and a rounded mouthfeel. Notes of chocolate, caramel, nuts, and stone fruits like peach are common. Honduran farmers increasingly produce washed speciality coffee, improving quality and consistency and making Honduran coffee attractive both to commercial roasters and speciality roasters.
