Brazil Fazenda Progresso

110,00 kr

This family-owned farm focus on high quality with their single-estate coffee. We roast the Arabica beans light creating an extremely versatile coffee.

"Our Brazilian coffee works great in a range of different brewing methods. We value it for its rich body, sweetness and boldness. It offers a balanced but not overwhelming acidity leading to a long lingering aftertaste.

Although not as complex as other origins, this is an immensely comforting, no-nonsense coffee."

Brazil is the largest exporter in the world, supplying approximately 60% of the world's coffee - this is due in part to the sheer size of the country. While Brazil is a prolific exporter, it's average elevation for coffee production is only about 1,100 meters. This qualifies most of it as High Grown Coffee (900-1,200 meters), but some crops certainly fall below that threshold.

Red Catuai is widely planted due to its favourable characteristics, such as high productivity and a good cup quality. The variety originated in Brazil and is a hybrid of Mundo Novo and Caturra.

It is known for its well-balanced flavour profile that typically includes notes of sweetness, medium to high acidity, and medium to light body. Depending on growing conditions, processing methods, and roasting, the flavour profile of Red Catuai can vary and may include notes of citrus, chocolate, nuts, and caramel.

Fazenda Progresso is a family-run coffee farm located in the region of Bahia. It has a history spanning three generations and places a strong emphasis on social responsibility, worker welfare, and sustainability. The farm is run by Fabiano Borré, who invests in new technologies and techniques to enhance the farm's operations. They have their own processing facilities, producing washed, pulped natural, and natural coffee, and employ around 200 permanent workers, which increases during harvest season.

In addition to its focus on sustainable and responsible operations, Fazenda Progresso also partners with Amokka as part of its Impact Trade initiative, which aims to improve the lives of farm workers and their families. Projects under this initiative have been the construction of a health clinic and a school for children of farm workers.

Brazilian coffee from the Bahia region is considered some of the best in the country and is known for its high-quality pulped natural coffee production. The area has favourable climate and soil conditions for growing coffee and is one of the largest coffee-producing regions in Brazil.

Coffee from Bahia is typically processed using the pulped natural method, which involves removing the outer skin of the coffee cherry but leaving the fruit and its sugary layer intact. This process results in a unique flavour profile different from traditional washed coffee.
